What are we about? Myth-busting. Truth-telling. Thought-provoking info that is easy to understand, easy to act on and relevant to our lives. The sanctimonious and sappy have enough bully pulpits; we are the irreverent and practical. We want to foster healthy debate, and help people connect to the natural world in ways that are personal and fun.
Our mission: To make sustainability a natural part of how we live.
Our vision: Create a global “movement” of environmental attunement and action by inspiring people through a deeper connection to their heritage, their ancestors, their communities and the natural world.

You will notice that our mascot is a wild boar: intrepid protector of the forests to ancient peoples. His name is Boris (Slavic for “Warrior”) and he's our spokes-boar – unafraid to ask a tough question or challenge any assumption. You can rely on Boris to help root out the truth. Yes, you should expect terrible puns.
Throughout the site, you'll notice a lot of information about trees. Looking back at the ancient threads that connect us, few things unite mankind like the tree. Trees are the oldest, largest, longest living things on earth and protect us in ways that may surprise you. From the very air we breathe, to an age-old source of medicine and food, trees have improved the lives of humankind. No wonder that every ancient civilization had a spectacular tree mythology that has important resonance today.
"Good planets are hard to find," as the song goes. So we decided it was time for a very different approach to a better planet; one that is inclusive, non-preachy, non-partisan, realistic—and one that starts with the simple things we can do right now.
