This tree is considered one of the most valuable nut species on earth. The tree symbolizes abundance and is the only major nut tree that grows naturally in North America.
The Pecan tree is a large, deciduous tree that live and bear nuts for more than 300 years; it can grow to 70 ft (21 m) tall. The U.S. produces 80-95% of the world's pecans today. Its nutrient-rich nuts contain protein, fiber and more than 19 vitamins and minerals. Scientific evidence suggests that eating them may provide protection against various cancers, heart disease and even Alzheimer’s.
The Pecan tree is the state tree of Texas.
